EdMedia.TV is the home of the Médiarchive collection.
In 2008, Ed Video Media Arts Centre in Guelph Ontario, received generous funding from Department of Canadian Heritage, through the Canadian Culture Online initiative. This funding allowed us to begin to digitize our ever increasing video and film archive, and protect it from time-related deterioration.
Founded in 1976, Ed Video is one of the oldest artist-run centres in Canada and in its archives exist some of the most significant early Canadian videos ever created. We aim to make this historical and cultural content available to all Canadian and world citizens; to provide a unique and postmodern learning forum where everyone has an equal voice and equal access; to provide free educational materials to schools and individuals that comes from a variety of cultural origins, and meanwhile, provide an online gallery space for emerging Canadian artists.
While the funding for the project lasted one year, Ed Video has a 5 year commitment to maintain and continue to digitize works from the archive.
